Miklat Nigunim Hostel for Teens
A hostel offering a safe haven for teenage girls at risk
The Ministry of Welfare operates dozens of hostels throughout the country, but Miklat Nigunim is the only one designed to meet the needs of abused girls from the religious sector.
Environment
Miklat Nigunim can house up to 16 girls, between the ages of 13 and 18, from communities throughout Israel. It is located in a large house in Jerusalem where a warm family environment is created for the girls, many of whom were previously homeless.
Treatment
The professional staff of psychologists, social workers and counselors provides the girls with therapy and spiritual support while implementing a multi-layered approach towards recovery. Ongoing contact with the staff gives the girls a feeling of family and security which helps with their emotional development. Equal attention is given to their medical and dental needs.
Studies and Activities
A good education is the best way to secure a promising future. Emphasis is therefore placed on selecting the most appropriate educational programs and developing successful study habits. Interesting and exciting activities help overcome the temptation to return to the streets. Significant Miklat resources are invested in these activities, many of which are not supported by the Ministry of Social Welfare.
